How to Use fastMEMORIZER
fastMEMORIZER is designed to be intuitive and fast. This guide will walk you through the basic workflow and show you how to get the most out of our transformation modes.
Step 1: Input Your Text
Open the app and click "NEW TEXT" to unlock the workspace. Paste the text you want to memorize or load a .txt file directly.
Workspace with loaded text, ready for transformation.
Step 2: Choose a Transformation Mode
This is where the magic happens. Select a mode from the toolbar to challenge your brain's recall ability:
- 1st Letter: Shows only the first letter of each word. The ultimate test for deep recall.
- Cover: Randomly hides words based on the intensity slider. Great for gradual memorization.
- Mix Inside: Scrambles the internal letters of each word while keeping the first and last letters intact. It utilizes the "Cambridge effect" to force active decoding.
- Swap: Swaps the first and last letters of words, creating a higher level of visual disruption for intense focus.
- Beginning: Reveals text word-by-word from the start. Ideal for learning sentence flow.
- Odd/Even Words: Hides every second word to create a rhythmic memory pattern.
- Odd/Even Lines: Removes entire lines to test how you connect different parts of the text.
- No Vowels / Consonants: Strips letters to force your brain to fill in the phonetic gaps.
- Long Words: Specifically targets and hides the most difficult words based on length.
Toolbar options for different memorization techniques.
Step 3: Adjust Intensity & "Peek"
Use the Intensity slider to control how much text is hidden in modes like Cover or Long Words. If you are struggling, reduce the intensity. If it's too easy, crank it up to 100%.
Pro Tip: Use Mix Inside as your starting point. Since it maintains the word's structure (first and last letters), it's the perfect way to build confidence before switching to the more challenging 1st Letter mode.
Need a quick hint? Hold the Spacebar or Ctrl to temporarily "peek" at the original text. Release it to bring the transformation back instantly.
Step 4: Practice and Review
Repeat the process. Switch between modes to challenge your brain in different ways. Your text is automatically saved in the RECENT menu, so you can pick up where you left off later.
