If you want to become a master of scales, modes, chords and arpeggios, it takes a lot of practice and dedication. But, it’s well worth it because you’ll be able to play any type of music with ease.

Once you know the major and minor scales and the modes, you can start learning chords.

Chords are simply groups of three or more notes played together. They can be played in any order, but the most common order is 1-3-5. This is called a triad. There are many different types of chords, and you need to learn as many as you can.

The first thing you need to do is learn all the major and minor scales.

This will give you a strong foundation to work from. Then, you can start learning the modes. These are simply different ways of playing the same scale. For example, the Dorian mode is the second mode of the major scale. It starts on the second note of the scale and uses a different pattern of whole and half steps.

Finally, you can start learning arpeggios.

These are simply broken chords, played one note at a time. They’re a great way to add interest to your playing and to make your solos sound more complex.

Practice, practice, practice! The more you play, the better you’ll become at using scales, modes, chords and arpeggios in your playing.
